Montenegro Isopods (Armadillidium klugii)
Somebody sent you a photo of one and now you want them. Fair. The Montenegro morph is one of the better-looking isopods you can buy: a dark body with pale spots and a red-orange rim that sharpens as they grow.
Armadillidium klugii is a Mediterranean pill bug and a roller, so it balls up when disturbed instead of running. Adults reach about 18 to 21 mm, which is big for an Armadillidium. They want a humidity gradient rather than a number, and they tell you when you have it wrong: all of them piled on the sphagnum means the bin is too dry, all of them at the dry end or up the walls means too wet, spread across the bin means you got it right.
