Bumblebee Millipede (Anadenobolus monilicornis)
A millipede is a different proposition from an isopod colony. You are not buying a cleanup crew, you are buying an animal you will actually watch, and the banded legs on this one are the reason people pick it first.
Anadenobolus monilicornis burrows. Give it four to five inches of substrate with plenty of white-rotted hardwood mixed through, because the wood is the food, not decoration. A new millipede goes under and stays under for about three days before it settles in, which worries people who think something is wrong. Nothing is wrong. When the substrate goes fine and grainy like coffee grounds and the level drops, the wood is gone and it is time to top up rather than tear the bin down.
Leaf litter goes on top of all of it, so a bag of mixed hardwood leaf litter belongs in the same order. Millipedes are priced per animal rather than per pack, because supply is the real constraint on this line.
Live animals ship Monday through Wednesday, and we hold a shipment when the forecast at either end would cook or freeze a box. Every order carries a live arrival guarantee. We ship within the United States, and not to Hawaii or Puerto Rico.

These are not for sale yet, and they are further out than our isopods. Millipedes do not split like isopods do; eggs hatch over weeks to months and the young take a year or more to mature, so we will not sell any until we hold a real breeding group.
