Oak Leaf Litter - Heat-Treated (1 gallon)

Your leaf litter is gone, the crew is picking at bare substrate, and the yard is not an option. It has been sprayed, or it is February, or you would rather not find out what else came in with the leaves.

This is oak, collected from unsprayed woods, baked at about 200F, sorted, and packed dry. Oak because it breaks down slowly and stays edible for weeks instead of going to mush in a fortnight. Heat-treated because that kills the mites and gnat larvae that ride in on wild-collected leaves, and because dry litter ships light and will not mold in the bag.

One note from our own bins: top it up as it goes. The crew eats the litter, so a bin showing bare soil is a hungry bin, and the crumbs in the bottom of the bag are food too. Do not pick them out.
